Parent Kid Books about motherhood

What is motherhood?

A mother is the biological or social female parent of a child or offspring, while the male parent is the father. The maternal bond describes the feelings the mother has for her (or another's) child.

In the case of a mammal such as a human, the mother gestates her child (called first an embryo, then a fetus) in the womb from conception until the fetus is sufficiently well-developed to be born. The mother then goes into labour and gives birth. Once the child is born, the mother's breasts produce milk to feed the child.

In non-sexual organisms, "mother" can sometimes be used to mean "parent"; in the case of single-celled organisms that reproduce by fission, the mother is a cell that divides to produce "daughters".

Mothers typically have a very important role in raising children, and the title mother can be given to a woman other than a biological parent who fills this role. This is most commonly either an adoptive parent or a stepmother (the wife of a child's father). The term can also refer to a person with stereotypical traits of a mother.

Has This Woman No Soul?
This was infinitely worse than her first pregnancy book, and that was no winner, either. Even my cousin, her one-time Number One Fan, who enjoyed Belly Laughs, commented on the base nature of this train wreck. It took me an hour to read this over at my aforementined cousin's house and the last forty-five minutes of the effort were an exercise in sheer disbelief that this was someone's MOM talking about her own flesh and blood like he was a prop in a gross comedy skit. Why on earth does this former Playmate airhead think it's funny to tell such mean-spirited things about her child? This book is going to haunt the poor kid and humiliate him someday when he gets to school. Making light of her own flaws and mishaps is one thing and was marginally humorous in Belly Laughs, and Jen X, but here it comes off as too much information about someone else who cannot speak for himself or request some tact. I hear she's getting divorced. Good. Maybe the father will get custody and spare the boy a mom like Jenny. Mark my words, this kid is going to hate his mother someday. I wish I could rate a book as zero stars. Let's pretend I did.
Circumcised1
I loved this book! Jenny McCarthy is so hilarious and blunt. I really enjoyed the chapter on circumcision -- it is especially funny when Jenny says that she had her little boy circumcised so that he would have a "pretty penis." This is the best reason to submit a baby boy to this painful procedure! So many new moms just love seeing that surgically exposed little cherry! New moms, have no doubt -- it is perfectly okay to perform unanesthetized cosmetic surgery on an unconsenting baby's genitals! In fact, it is kind of funny, even though the little boy experiences unbearable pain, sometimes even disassociating and lapsing into a pain-induced coma, but hey -- it's just a baby. He won't remember his circumcision. After all, when a mom is changing her baby boy's diaper, she is the one who has to look at his penis, and everyone knows that a tightly circumcised penis looks much better than an uncircumcised one. Way to go Jenny! I found it very humorous when you described in detail the Circumstraint to which the baby boy is strapped, with his arms and feet constrained, and when you talked about your husband walking out of the operating room, cradling his baby boy, looking pale and traumatized. It is so cute that boys have to have their penises cut, and I'm really glad that Jenny saw the humor in it.
Very cute & Funny!
This is obviously not a book if you're in true need of some guidance, nor was the pregnancy one. They are written to make you not take something so serious, so seriously. The pregnancy one was my favoirte, I just felt like finally, someone was saying something real. No, it's not medical, it's not all that useful for anyhting other than helping you realize you're not morphing into a freak, you're just normal. And, it's not gross, it's funny. Jenny McCarthy has not ever been someone I particualry liked or knew anything about. But I appreciate her bluntness, and humor.
Lighten up people!!
OK, yes, Jenny McCarthy is just an actress, and I'm 99% sure didn't do any type of research for her books. But give me a break...she's a comedian! These books are supposed to be for your entertainment, and not much else. If you want a lot of research, try the very informative (but boring) What to Expect series...geez! Or better yet, if you don't like the girl, don't read her books! You've got to have a real fun household if you can't take her books with a grain of salt!
Another Hit
As with Belly Laughs, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I loved this book. It was very down to earth and made me laugh. It was nice to know that a celebrity shared similar experiences that I have in my baby's first year of life and wasn't afraid to talk about them. I would highly recommend this book to new moms.
