Parent Kid Books about fatherhood

What is fatherhood?

A father is traditionally the male parent of a child. Like mothers, fathers may be categorised according to their biological, social or legal relationship with the child. Historically, the biological relationship paternity has been determinative of fatherhood. However, proof of paternity has been intrinsically problematic and so social rules often determined who would be regarded as a father e.g. the husband of the mother. This method of the determination of fatherhood has persisted since Roman times. The historical approach has been destabilised with the recent emergence of accurate scientific testing, particularly DNA testing. As a result, the law on fatherhood is undergoing rapid changes. In the United States, the Uniform Parentage Act essentially defines a father as a man who conceives a child through sexual intercourse.

Reviews:

This is a good information book for the dad to be
Things are broke down in this book month to month and the chapters are not boring. My husband checked it out from the library and after reading months 1 and 2 he asked me to buy it for him, so I did. This is a book that gives the dad information he can use and it also helps show him that feelings he is having are ok and that it is ok for dad to have weird feelings during the pregnancy too. Just cause you aren't the one pregnant doesn't mean you can't be having a roller coaster of emotions too. A very good book for the father to be, even if it isn't your first baby this is a nice refresher if your other one is a toddler or more by now. I would recommend this to any expectant dad and mom too, it helps us get an insight on how our guy may be feeling thru all this.
Too touchy-feely for me.
The information is fine, but I'm a guy. Spare the new age approach.

This is Dr. Phil for dads. It's an OK book, but not my style.
Excellent book!
Pregnancy was the most exciting event in my and my wife's life. With the help of this book, I knew how to provide better support to my wife and what to expect month by month. I would highly recommend this book to all First time dads!
Excellent and highly recommended!
My daughter is pregnant and I know first hand what her husband and she are going through. As a marriage consultant and sexual therapist I strongly advised them to buy and this book because it is a great source of information for a father-to-be. I do NOT think that he should just follow his gut instinct and hope that he will do everything properly. It is a very important and responsible role to be a father and I would never advise anyone to jump blindly and unprepared. Mr. Brott is an expert in this field and gradually describes an entire role model for a father-to-be. He is very involved, loving, caring, supportive and always nearby. This model is very different from the stereotypical model of a father-macho whose role is to make sure that there is food on the table and the bills are paid.

I am very happy that this book will really help you to be an example of an involved husband and father-to-be. The last thing your pregnant wife will want is a clueless husband who doesn't understand what's going on with her, the baby and feel anxious for the future. This book provides a lot of advice about financial planning as well and puts everything in a perspective which I think is very important for a man. Probably you will find some parts of it "obvious" but they will reassure and calm you down that what you do is right. Anxiety is one of the worst enemies of each young family and this book will successfully help you to keep it under control.

I strongly recommended to my daughter in addition to this book to buy "Scientifically guaranteed male multiple orgasms and ultimate sex" by Alan Ritz. Pregnancy is a tough period for sex. That's why you may feel bad or even rejected from the serious decrease in your intimate contacts. Scientist Alan Ritz has made a breakthrough with the discovery of "The VIP Muscle", which generates multiple orgasms in men with or without a partner. That's why my daughter's husband was very happy and calmed to receive from her that book. Now he reads Ritz's book, "enjoys daily multiple orgasms alone" according to my daughter and prepares for "ultimate sex" after the delivery. That's why I highly recommend both books!

I'd never been a dad before. Never even held a baby before my wife got pregnant and I wasn't sure about what to do. Of course it's all pretty natural, but this book really made me realize that all the worries I was having were normal and it gave me lots of great ideas of ways to be more involved in the process. It also got me thinking about the kind of a father I wanted to be and whether I wanted to be the kind of dad my dad was or some other kind.

This book deals with men's concerns in a straightforward and sensitive way. It's filled with very insightful information that helped me make sense of the feelings I was having during my wife's pregnancy and activities that I could do to stay involved. If you are expecting a baby or even already have one, I highly recommend this book. Another great title that I also recommend is "Can We Live 150 Year" by Tombak. You will find there a lot of information about bringing up your child in a healthy manner. These two books make a perfect gift for any parent.
