Parent Kid Books about adoption

What is adoption?

Adoption is the legal act of permanently placing a child with a parent or parents other than the birth parents. Adoption results in the severing of the parental responsibilities and rights of the biological parents and the placing of those responsibilities and rights onto the adoptive parents. After the finalization of an adoption, there is little or no legal difference between biological and adopted children.

Different jurisdictions have varying laws on adoption and post-adoption. Some practice confidential or closed adoption, preventing further contact between the adopted person and the biological parents, while others have varying degrees of open adoption, which may allow such contact. An underreported fact is that open adoptions are not legally enforceable agreements in many jurisdictions[1]. I.e., an open adoption may be closed at any time for any reason.

Creating a Lifebook
This book has a lot of idea's for creating a lifebook. It will be very helpful.
Buying my 2nd copy
This is a great book - of course I recommended and loaned it to a friend who then recommended and loaned it to another friend. Now I'm buying a second copy, because I'm sure the first is being put to good use by someone else.
Very helpful to adoptive parents
As with some other great adoption books on the market, I wish this one had existed when our child was small. She is now 34 years old and a mother, and I still wish to create a lifebook for/with her using O'Malley's wonderful guide. But it's never too late! I will make sure that my friends, who have adopted children, will have a copy of this delightful book.

Finally, a book with useful advice.
We recently adopted our foster child (whom we've had since birth) and I was at a loss as to what types of things to put in her lifebook. This book was VERY helpful in giving information, tips and ideas of information that needed to be included. We now have our 2nd foster child (that we hope to adopt) and this book has made it much easier to get a jump-start on her lifebook.
You Owe It to Yourself and Your Child
